Preseason Gear Checklist

In preparation for the upcoming season, many have asked, "what do we need"? Whether you are new to Brunswick Youth Baseball or a returning player, this brief article breaks down what you can expect this year.

The league provides new baseball hats and new jersey shirts to all registered players. These are keepsakes not intended to be turned in at the end of the season. Catcher's gear and batting helmets, in good working condition, are provided to each team manager at the start of the season.

Must Haves
  1. Grey baseball pants
  2. Baseball glove - Dick's Sporting Goods has a helpful guide for gloves 
  3. Baseball bat - must have the USA stamp (see our earlier post on this)
  4. Baseball cleats - molded plastic spikes

Nice to Haves
  1. Batting Helmet - the league has some to share; many bring their own
  2. Baseball bag - try to find one with a slot for a bat (or two)
  3. Batting gloves - can keep hands from getting sore while hitting
  4. Baseball socks - ideally matching the jersey color assigned during team selection; coaches will let you know in advance
  5. Belt - black, elastic, adjustable belts are best and save from needed a different color every year
  6. Athletic supporter and cup - players should wear athletic supporters. Most (particularly pitchers, catchers, and infielders) should wear protective cups as well.
